Neuenhöhe 85, 42929 Wermelskirchen – Nordrhein-WestfalenThe OLD SCHOOL – a two-story building with an attic – is located on the B 51 road at the eastern edge of Wermelskirchen, on a park-like property of approximately 2,500 square meters. This timber-framed house was built in 1830 as a school building, expanded to its current size in 1875, and is a protected historical landmark. In 1988, the owner purchased the building from the city of Wermelskirchen, along with an adjacent outbuilding and shed, which were formerly part of the school complex.
In 1988, a building permit was obtained for the conversion of the building into 4 apartments (ranging in size from approximately 55 square meters to 100 square meters). Between 1988 and 1990, the building was completely restored and renovated. In 1999, two additional land parcels (FST 745 - 747) were added. Between 1998 and 1999, a garage was built on the eastern edge of the property for private vehicles.
In 2006, the OLD SCHOOL was further adapted to the needs of a residential community for individuals with dementia that was established there. The premises in the OLD SCHOOL could be rented out again from May 1, 2026. Features of the renovated rooms in the OLD SCHOOL:
Walls, ceilings, and floors constructed according to 1988 standards, complete electrical, plumbing, and heating systems installed between 1988 and 1990, thermal insulation according to the 1988 WSVO regulations, old brick roof with slate gables.

Paths paved with graywacke natural stone, driveways with a mineral mixture and fine gravel, park-like landscaping to the north, a small wooded area to the west and east, a row of trees with a hedge along the street. The property is accessible via a direct entrance with a gate system from road B 51 and is surrounded on all sides by natural boundaries, partially integrated with wire mesh fencing. Due to the school's special location in a park-like but enclosed environment, the building is suitable for particularly vulnerable groups of people. The total area available for rent is approximately 350 m². The ground floor areas, WEST and EAST, could be developed and used separately. The WEST area had previously been used as a communal space with a large kitchen and living area. The property is particularly suitable for shared living arrangements, for which it was also prepared in 2006. To the west of the old school, a listed toilet building (approximately 47m² + basement) is currently being renovated and restored, and it can also be rented out once completed.
