You can see why the village is called Borkwalde, as many of the wooden houses were built in a pine forest, which still characterizes the townscape today.

The village of Borkwalde is located in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark, in the middle of an extensive forest area. The neighboring town of Borkheide with the RE 7 train connection, many shopping facilities, hotels, restaurants and the forest pool is only a few kilometers away.
Borkwalde has a doctor, a dentist, a physiotherapist, a pharmacy, a kindergarten and a nursing home for the elderly.
The A 9 (Munich-Berlin) and A 10 (Berliner Ring) freeways are just a few kilometers away and provide good transport links to Leipzig/Halle and Potsdam/Berlin.
The forest community of Borkwalde is part of the district of Brück and is well known for its "Schwedenhaussiedlung" and its numerous and colorful wooden houses. Around 1500 inhabitants currently live in the idyllic, peaceful surroundings of Borkwalde.
Several associations and their members, numerous tradespeople and many committed citizens are concerned about the growth and prosperity of the Waldsiedlung. In recent years, many people have discovered Borkwalde not only as a weekend home but also as a new place to live.
