Location
Bentwisch is a municipality in the Rostock Heide administrative district, located in the Rostock district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany), and it borders the Hanseatic city of Rostock directly to the northeast. The town is situated northeast of Rostock, along the federal highway B105, and not far from the federal motorway A19.
Due to its location, Bentwisch has become an important industrial and commercial center in the years following German reunification. Today's Bentwisch includes the districts of Albertsdorf, Goorstorf, Harmstorf, Klein Bartelsdorf, Klein Bentwisch, Neu Bartelsdorf, and Neu Harmstorf. The history of the municipality is closely linked to the Hanseatic city of Rostock. The municipality's location near the A19 (Rostock-Ost exit) and the B105 is considered very convenient for transportation. The Bentwisch railway station is located on the Stralsund–Rostock railway line.
