Sagard is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Lohme to the north, Sassnitz to the east and southeast, Lietzow to the south, and Glowe to the northwest.
The B 96 road runs past the village. Here, the country road L 30 branches off towards Altenkirchen on the Wittow peninsula.

The municipality has a train station on the Stralsund–Sassnitz railway line. Trains on the RE 9 line run hourly to Sassnitz, and in the opposite direction to Lietzow, Stralsund, and then every two hours to Rostock.
Bus lines 12+13 and 18 connect Sagard with Sassnitz, Bergen, Polchow, and other villages on the island of Rügen.
