Lengede is connected to the A 39 and has good rail connections (Braunschweig is approx. 11 minutes away, Hanover approx. 35 minutes). The location is characterized by a mixture of traditional industry (formerly ore mining) and modern companies. The town gained worldwide fame due to the mining accident in the fall of 1963, in which eleven miners were rescued after 14 days. The municipality has developed into a sought-after place to live, combining a rural structure with good infrastructure.
