The location of the apartment directly on the medieval city wall in Erlangen's old town with a south-facing view of the old town roofs and a north-facing view of the castle hill, quiet and central, is unchangeable, exceptional and its most attractive feature.
Within walking distance of less than 10 minutes are all facilities for daily needs as well as upscale restaurants or student cult pubs, city museum, art palace, theater, cultural center E-Werk and other vital cultural sites, the Regnitzgrund - and the locally mythical "mountain" with its historic beer cellars and gardens. You can be "in the country" in a quarter of an hour by bike or public transport.
Healthcare is excellent and the reputation of the university hospital is outstanding.
The nearest free public transport stop in Erlangen is less than 200 meters away, the main train station less than a kilometer.
Daycare centers, primary and secondary schools are also nearby and car-free.
By car, you can be on the A73 in less than a kilometer, which in turn leads quickly to junctions in all directions.
The "Saugraben", located on the north side of the apartment, will be further upgraded after its renovation in 2024: vehicle traffic will be minimized, additional trees will be planted to complement the existing tree population and asphalted areas will be paved with natural stone and unsealed - creating an attractive green urban space at the only remaining remnant of the 15th century city wall, right at the foot of the apartment.

Erlangen itself is "small-town" cosmopolitan. This supposed contradiction arises from its Huguenot architecture, its northern location on the edge of the "metropolitan region", which you can leave by bike to the north into the scenic and gastronomically beautiful rural Franconia and experience more tranquilly to the south via the best local transport and highway connections to the associated cities of Fürth and Nuremberg.
But above all, it results from its population: unadulterated natives, polyglot, well-off Siemens employees and, above all, many young and some mature university students from all disciplines coexist seamlessly in the most beautiful harmony, because this mixture has grown organically.
Just as pleasantly contradictory: Erlangen is very lively and very safe.
