The approximately 400-year-old hammer forge is located in the Allgäu region, in a valley surrounded by forest, on a clearing directly next to a stream. The building is situated in a quiet location, surrounded by nature, with minimal noise pollution. The last blacksmith ceased operations in 1907. Afterwards, the building remained unused for a long time until it was extensively renovated starting in 2015. The goal of the renovation was to preserve the historical character while simultaneously creating modern living comfort. The facade was completely renewed. A timber frame system reinforces the exterior walls and supports two layers of wood fiber insulation. A climate membrane ensures airtightness. The cladding is made of rough-sawn, local wood. For the front of the building, a craftsman over 80 years old produced tens of thousands of hand-carved wooden shingles. The building is not a listed historical monument. Some original windows on the first floor could be preserved. Double-glazed windows, the roof, and the electrical system are from a previous renovation. The house is heated by an oil-fired central heating system, as well as additional wood-burning stoves. The oil burner was recently replaced. Underfloor heating is installed on the ground floor and above the garage. The adjacent stream remains stable within its bed and does not pose a flood risk. Its location contributes to the natural cooling of the house, especially during the summer months. The property, known as Hammerschmiede, is situated in a peaceful, natural environment, yet is also within easy reach of the village, the town of Lindenberg, and approximately 40 minutes from Lake Constance. It offers a secluded retreat and a very quiet environment. In the winter, the robust construction of the wooden house provides good insulation. In addition to the central heating, the wood-burning stoves contribute to a comfortable warmth. The access road is a municipal road that is regularly cleared. In the immediate vicinity, there are cross-country skiing trails and winter hiking paths that are connected to the regional winter sports network of the Allgäu region.
