Location
Altenahr is located in the beautiful Ahr Valley and is historically interesting, known for the ruins of Are Castle. As a tourist destination, it offers a stunning natural setting with a nature reserve and wonderful hiking trails through the vineyards.
The train journey from Ahrbrück via Altenahr to Remagen takes approximately 42 minutes. Trains operate on the Ahr Valley line as RB30 or RB32 (fully electric) to Remagen, with connections to Koblenz and Boppard, as well as to Bonn and Cologne. Starting in December 2026, RB32 will run directly from Ahrbrück via Remagen and Koblenz to Boppard.
