The B31 bypasses Meersburg as a fast road and provides connections to the A98 motorway near Stockach (approximately 30 km), the A81 motorway at the Hegau interchange (approximately 40 km), and the A96 motorway near Lindau (approximately 40 km). There is a major road connection between Meersburg and Konstanz on the opposite shore of Lake Constance. Due to its lakeside location, the town has a boat landing with connections to Überlingen, Konstanz, Lindau, and Bregenz. Public transportation in Meersburg is available through city, regional, and school bus lines with connections to Friedrichshafen, Überlingen, and other destinations. It is part of the Bodensee-Oberschwaben transport association (bodo). The old town of Meersburg is designated as a pedestrian zone. The lower and upper parts of the town are connected by the castle stairs, the Rieschen stairs, and the steep Steigstraße. Motorists bypass the lower and upper parts of the town on the B33, which provides the only access to the ferry. The nearest airports are Friedrichshafen (approximately 15 km), Zurich-Kloten (approximately 80 km), and Memmingen (approximately 100 km).
