Directly next to the Köpenick S-Bahn station (approximately 1.5 km away) is the Forum Köpenick shopping complex (with 140 stores), and across the Elknerplatz is a building housing Saturn, Aldi, etc. Within a 200-300 meter stretch, Bahnhofstrasse is lined with shops on both sides heading south. Since 1907, a 12-kilometer tram line has run from the Köpenick S-Bahn station to the Mahlsdorf S-Bahn station. The tram stop is only about 100 meters away, but the building is well soundproofed due to the surrounding development and forest. The connection to the public transportation network is good. The new regional train station at the Köpenick S-Bahn station is scheduled to begin operations in approximately one year, which will allow you to reach Alexanderplatz in about 15 minutes. Travel times by public transport from the tram stop "Unter den Birken" during the day are as follows: Mahlsdorf-Süd (1 minute), S-Köpenick (4 minutes), Rathaus Köpenick (11 minutes), S-Friedrichshagen (11 minutes), S-Mahlsdorf (16 minutes).

In the "Fairy Tale Quarter," there's a parent-run children's store, a large state-funded daycare center, and many other daycare facilities in the surrounding areas, including bilingual English/German options. In addition to the elementary school in the "Fairy Tale Quarter," there are also independent schools in the neighboring districts, such as the Evangelical Elementary School in Friedrichshagen, the Waldorf School in Mahlsdorf, and the Montessori School in Wendenschloss.
