39104 Magdeburg (Buckau) – Sachsen-AnhaltSchönebecker Str. 2 is a listed building and was constructed in 1893 in the Neo-Renaissance style by the architect A. Böttcher from Magdeburg. Even at the time of its construction, it was a very modern building, as it already had indoor toilets in the apartments. Furthermore, the girls' room, located behind the kitchen (with its own window), was used as a bedroom, and they were not housed in the attic. During the renovation, the floor plans were only slightly modified; the girls' room and the toilet were combined to create a large bathroom, as is common today. The wooden floors – original larch planks – have been restored and varnished, and the stucco has been faithfully reproduced. All apartments have a view of the greenery in Pioneer Park, or, at the rear, of the landscaped courtyard. The apartments are flooded with light and feature marble bathrooms. All living and sleeping rooms have a ceiling height of 3.40 meters. All windows have been newly manufactured in a historically appropriate style and feature soundproofing class IV. The walls of the apartments have been meticulously smoothed – no more wallpapering! Each apartment is connected to the building's own satellite and cable system, saving on costs. Loft: A very modern loft apartment, with a total area of 64 m2, is located on a high floor. Apart from the bedroom, which has two entrances, and the bathroom, there are no doors in the apartment. The bathtub has been installed at a lower level for easier access, and the loft apartment boasts a unique layout, as well as underfloor heating.
