The house is located in 79725 Laufenburg, at Vogelsang 10, in a very quiet and idyllic setting with an unobstructed view of a newly built residential area of single-family homes. The bakery is 300 meters away, and the shopping center with many discount stores, doctors, pharmacy, bank, Obi (hardware store), and gas station is 4 kilometers away. The customs office for Switzerland is also located there. Both towns are called Laufenburg, and the Rhine River forms the border with Switzerland. The house is located in the Hochsal district, and the church bells are not rung at night. The house was built in 2010 using solid construction with Liapor blocks, and it is insulated with insulating material. The Liapor blocks are 17.5 cm thick, and the insulation material is 12 cm thick. The Liapor blocks not only provide excellent insulation against cold and heat, but they also dampen sound very well, which is noticeable in the rooms of the house. When I bought the house, it only had one toilet, so I had another one installed in the utility room. The washing machine is a combined washer/dryer.

There's a rainwater tank, so you can water the plants with rainwater or rinse down the seating areas. There's a powerful pump in the tank, which I bought new about 3 years ago. The insulation made of stone is throughout the entire ground floor, so I had to add extra insulation in the workroom on the attic floor, under the roof. When guests arrived with an outside temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, I offered them a cold air fan, but the holidaymakers didn't use it in the well-insulated house.
Location
The house is situated on a gentle slope, and in 2017, I had the garden redesigned to be easier to maintain. I had a pathway created to connect the two seating areas, and a roof installed over the terrace, so that both areas are covered. This pathway was built with two garden slabs, each 40 cm wide, placed side by side, resulting in a total width of 80 cm, to ensure a sufficiently wide path for strollers or wheelchairs.
The vacationers who spent the best days of their year in this house were all happy with the peace and relaxation they could enjoy. The neighbors are very friendly; when I wasn't allowed to cross the border for three months in 2020, the neighbors watered the plants and mowed the lawn. I am very grateful for that.

If you want to head towards Freiburg, the best route is to get on the highway towards Basel in Switzerland, near Eiken (approximately 12 km). Then, at Rheinfelden, you'll find the junction leading towards Germany, where you can continue towards Freiburg. The highway vignette, costing CHF 40 per year, can be purchased online. Since that option became available, I haven't needed to put a sticker in my car anymore.
In Switzerland, an industrial area has been developed approximately 12-14 km away. The towns of Eiken, Sisseln, Münchwilen, and Stein are part of this industrial area, which is called "Sisslerfeld." It is estimated that up to 15,000 jobs will be created in the coming years. Lonza is currently under construction and has already started hiring employees.
