Greifswald is the youngest city in eastern Germany: one in four residents is between 18 and 30 years old. The University of Greifswald, founded in 1456, is the second-oldest city in the Baltic Sea region after Rostock, with approximately 10,000 students and around 6,000 university staff. Greifswald is an internationally significant center for education and research. The neighboring village of Kaschow is also well-known throughout the region for its 36-hole golf course, the "Strelasund" Golf Park. There are well-maintained restaurants nearby.
