Conversion and renovation work on the existing building was carried out on an ongoing basis; estimated at the end of the 1990s: a generous expansion of the living space by converting the massive slate wall barn.
Reinforced concrete ceilings with underfloor heating were installed.
A wide, invitingly curved staircase leads to a gallery and a spacious living area including a sandstone fireplace. In 2021, an energy-efficient renovation was carried out: a powerful air heat pump replaced the existing oil heating. In the course of this, various new electrical cables were laid and a wallbox installed. The shower/WC was completely renovated and a new entrance portal was designed and installed.
You enter the house, which looks rather inconspicuous from the outside, and stand in a spacious entrance area, framed by a capped ceiling with an interesting appearance. The room opens up in height through the elegant staircase with its fine wooden steps, allowing for interesting viewing angles and lines of sight within the house. To the left is a very spacious family bathroom with a bathtub, two washbasins, a shower and a WC separated by a privacy wall.
Behind the large staircase is a guest room. To the right you enter the "old" part of the house, i.e. the former farmhouse with a single room, kitchen and various storage rooms. Attached to these rooms is a wooden staircase from the Wilhelminian era that leads to the upper floor, where the parents' and children's bedrooms are located. These rooms are separated by a hallway and the newly renovated shower/WC.
The children's rooms are also new and a connection between them was created by means of a sliding door. The gallery can be reached via the 2nd room (former hay store above the capped ceiling). This is currently used as a library. You then enter the spacious living room with its stately sandstone fireplace. This large room provides access to the outside area through a large sliding element window.
The jewel, next to the partly covered terrace, is the low-maintenance garden. The plants in the garden encourage each other's growth and usually bloom from March to October. The spacious outdoor area offers peace and seclusion as well as plenty of space to pursue hobbies and interests.

Although Gornhausen is a small village
