Retzstadt is located in an idyllic landscape characterized by vineyards in the Bavarian district of Main-Spessart. The rolling hills and extensive vineyards characterize the region and provide a picturesque backdrop for the municipality with around 1,650 inhabitants. Retzstadt, which was first mentioned in documents as "Reccisstadt" in the middle of the 8th century, is located around 5 km from the River Main on the right-hand side of the Maindreieck in a picturesque side valley. The numerous hiking and cycling trails that wind through the vineyards and forests around the village are particularly striking. For this reason, Retzstadt is also known as the "village of paths", reflecting the many opportunities for exploring nature and the surrounding area. The lively club life and regular village festivals allow quick and easy integration into active village life.
Retzstadt has a modern and award-winning village store with a bakery and butcher's counter for local supplies, a drinks market, a restaurant and a bakery, numerous family-run service and craft businesses (e.g. hairdresser, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, stationery, gardening, car repair shop, electrical, heating and plumbing, tiler, painter, carpentry) and a family doctor.
