Location
Dohna is the second oldest town in the Free State of Saxony. It is located in the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge and is the seat of the Dohna-Müglitztal administrative community. The town of Dohna is located around 15 km south-east of Dresden and south of Heidenau at the entrance to the Müglitz Valley, the gateway to the Eastern Ore Mountains.
The economic situation in Dohna today is characterized by small and medium-sized companies, local trades and service providers as well as agriculture and fruit and horticulture.
Dohna can be reached via the S 178 from Heidenau. The A 17 highway runs directly past Dohna. The Pirna junction is located directly at the entrance to the town between the districts of Köttewitz and Krebs. Regional transport is provided on the one hand by bus connections to Heidenau, Pirna and Altenberg and by the Dresden city line to Borthen and Röhrsdorf, and on the other hand by the Müglitz Valley Railway from Heidenau to Altenberg.
