Location
Zamilapark in the Bogenhausen district is located between Lüderitzstrasse, Denninger Anger, the railroad line to Munich Airport and Eggenfeldener Strasse. Zamilapark covers around 13 hectares and is home to the Zamilapark housing estate. This was built between 1983 and 1991 by Bayerische Hausbau; the architects were Bernd Obersteiner and Architekturbüro Wiegelt & Partner München.
In the center of the Zamilapark housing estate are mainly rental apartments, surrounded by privately owned terraced houses and apartment buildings. These are mainly concrete and brick buildings with rendered façades, gabled and hipped roofs, balconies and dormer windows, all in the style of the 1980s. Nevertheless, attention was paid to the use of the properties by families with children.
In 1990, Zamilapark was named the most beautiful green space in Bavaria. It contains a geology garden with remarkable types of rock, a sports facility and Lake Zamila. This is a near-natural biotope that is home to numerous animals. Lake Zamila is densely overgrown in most places and is only accessible in some places.
