Obereichstätt is located in the west of the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt and in the Altmühltal Nature Park (approx. 3 km west of Eichstätt, approx. 25 km northwest of Ingolstadt).

The idyllic Hüttenbach stream rises from a karst spring on the outskirts of the village and flows through the village to the Altmühl. The Altmühltal cycle path makes for great excursions. The slope above Obereichstätt is a popular hang-gliding area.
