Seligenstadt is located about 25 km east of Frankfurt am Main, almost exactly halfway between Hanau and Aschaffenburg. The town consists of the three districts of Seligenstadt, Froschhausen and Klein-Welzheim. In the town center is the lovingly maintained old town with numerous half-timbered houses, the old Benedictine abbey with its basilica, which dominates the townscape, and numerous other historic buildings. The other districts have also retained much of their historic charm.
The banks of the Main with its cycle and footpath and the city forest offer plenty of opportunities to relax in nature. In the surrounding area, numerous bathing lakes and the town's own outdoor pool attract many visitors for refreshment in summer. The town itself has excellent shopping facilities with small stores as well as larger department stores and supermarkets. Seligenstadt's educational facilities also offer excellent opportunities for children, with the Einhard Grammar School, the Merian Comprehensive School and numerous elementary school and kindergartens, all educational options are available in Einhardstadt. The town is characterized by its lively club life, which is particularly evident during the carnival season. It is not for nothing that the Seligenstadt Rose Monday parade is one of the largest in the entire region. Of course, there is also no shortage of countless sports activities on offer in the various clubs.
Seligenstadt is located on the eastern edge of the Rhine-Main region with excellent transportation links to the A3 and A45 freeways. The town also has rail links to Hanau, Frankfurt, Groß-Umstadt, Darmstadt and Aschaffenburg. Frankfurt Airport can be reached by car within 25 minutes via the A3.
