In Holle there is a direct highway connection (Derneburg/Salzgitter exit) to the A7 (Kassel/Hanover) and A39 (Braunschweig/Berlin) highways. The B 6, B 243 and B 444 also run through the municipal area. Derneburg railroad station is on the Hanover-Goslar line. You can reach Hanover or Braunschweig in half an hour via the highways; Hildesheim and Salzgitter are only about 15 minutes away.
Numerous hiking trails lead through the woods. Places of interest in the surrounding area include the ruins of Wohldenberg Castle, the baroque Söder Castle and Derneburg Castle, which has a café in the "Glashaus" with homemade cakes, coffee and ice cream. Numerous cultural events also take place here. A circular hiking trail, the Laves Culture Trail, leads around Derneburg Castle through the former English landscape garden. Here you can explore an Egyptian pyramid, a Greek temple and the old castle and estate grounds. The leisure park in Sottrum is an adventure park for the whole family. The municipality of Holle consists of the 10 districts of Derneburg, Grasdorf, Hackenstedt, Heersum, Henneckenrode, Luttrum, Sillum, Söder and Sottrum. Holle is the largest village with around 3,000 inhabitants.
