Dornach is a district of the municipality of Aschheim, located directly east of Munich. The district has approximately 1,700 residents (as of May 2026). The area borders the Munich-Riem district, sharing a S-Bahn (suburban train) station (Munich-Riem / Dornach) and a highway exit (A 94 Munich-Riem – Neue Messe). While Dornach is part of the municipality of Aschheim (with a total population of approximately 18,500, as of May 2026), which is located about 3 kilometers northeast of Dornach, it is strongly oriented towards the Neue Messe München (Munich Trade Fair). The industrial area of Dornach is called Expo-Gate Munich-Dornach. The area benefits greatly from the infrastructure of the Neue Messe München (e.g., the Messe-West subway station, the Riem-Arkaden shopping center), being separated from it only by the A 94 highway and the Munich – Mühldorf railway line. The Expo-Gate Munich-Dornach industrial area, located near the S-Bahn station, is home to major companies such as Babybel, American Micro-Devices, and Ingram Micro, as well as ATRUVIA (formerly FIDUCIA, the data center for Bavarian cooperative banks). The daily needs can be met by a grocery store (REWE), a beverage market, a drugstore (DM), and a discount supermarket (LIDL). A wide range of options is also available in the nearby Riem Arcades and in the main town of Aschheim.

Several restaurants, ranging from "traditional" to "upscale," are located directly in Dornach. There are also numerous other restaurants in Munich-Riem and Aschheim.
