In the old town of Grünberg, there are many half-timbered buildings with beautiful facades (primarily from the 15th century), as well as numerous other significant historical buildings, squares, and structures. Of particular note are:

Market Square with Town Hall and Fountain: The Market Square is considered the center of Grünberg's old town. The most important building located there is the Town Hall, a Renaissance building from 1586/87. It was built by Hermann Rüdiger, the district administrator from Hersfeld. It has been owned by the town since 1593. Previously, there was a market and trading area in the hall on the ground floor. At the entrance, you can see an iron ell (a unit of measurement). The market square fountain, known as the "Fountain Gazer," is a 36-meter-deep well that was in operation until around 1500. It was filled in and forgotten in 1820, but rediscovered in 1980. The "Diebsturm" (literally "Thieves' Tower") is the city's landmark and was built around 1300 as part of the city's fortifications (height 25 meters). Later, it served as a prison for a time. In 1895, it was converted into a water tower. Today, it houses an exhibition on the history of the city's fortifications and serves as a viewing tower, among other things.
